RICKEM SAMUEL
I spoke with Rickem’s Mama, Ericka Davis 2 Sundays ago. We spoke of our sons, her son murdered, but not knowing why – my son, murdered, but not knowing where his body lay. We talked and cried and prayed together. I’m writing this to try and help her find justice for her child. What we discussed is written below, along with questions I have, and observations I’ve made. I hope you’ll join me in writing and sharing your thoughts and your questions and let’s start BREAKING THE SILENCE!
Ericka revealed in an article on Alcoldcase.com (https://alcoldcase.com/home/alabama-cases/montgomery-county/rickem-samuel/ ) that a young woman had picked up Rickem Samuel [her son] on Saturday and recounted their activities; lunch and a visit to one of his classmates – before they made their way to Wal-Mart on East Boulevard. There, they encountered a male coworker and another unfamiliar man. Surveillance footage from Wal-Mart confirmed Rickem’s presence as he entered a black Nissan Versa around 1:30 p.m., accompanied by these individuals.
Ericka told me, in a shaky voice, a grand jury was held on the ‘coworker’, and upon a ‘No Bill’ being issued, the case was closed. She had no idea that her son’s case was taken to the Grand Jury. She was simply told there was a no-bill and the case was closed. She wasn’t even allowed to see the clothes that he had on when he was found, and still hasn’t to this day. She wasn’t told why further investigation was not done – CLOSED.
My Questions
Why would they close the case with no further investigation? There was another man that was at Wal-Mart and left with Rickem and his co-worker. Was there no one left to investigate after the obvious suspect was turned loose? No one?
Did the young woman with Rickem that day at Wal-Mart know why he left with the 2 men? She was there – she had to know something – hear something. What led up to this meeting at Wal-Mart? Did his murder have to do with something he heard or witnessed at his job? Seems like it may have been just that since, Nanette Thomas, his supervisor, was declared missing a mere 6 days after Rickem was taken.
Nanette Thomas, Rickem’s team lead (his supervisor) at Glovis Hyundai, offered assistance to Ericka in the search for him. Nanette was asking her coworkers questions about what they knew, and participated in searches, but mysteriously vanished herself a mere six days after Rickem was last seen. I think we’re on the right track of this being related to the workplace – why else would she be taken after starting her own investigation into Rickem’s disappearance? ( And MPD declared that the cases were just coincidental and were not linked in any way. Well?)
Let’s hear your thoughts on this tragic case for both Rickem and Nanette – only by many minds looking at the information we have available can we discover the truth! Click on the links below to read more on these 2 cases.
